For Sarah Phoenix almost anything can become art. A mixed-media artist with a love for the abstract, bold and unexpected, Sarah creates with discarded and found materials—scrap tile, wood, dried paint and other pieces that might otherwise be overlooked. Her sustainability goes even further. Excess paint from her colorful tile work is allowed to dry, then hand-cut and transformed into one-of-a-kind jewelry. Even the scraps from the creative process get another chance to become something beautiful. Sarah’s journey as an artist has included poetry, painting, collage, mosaics, functional art and years of selling her work at local art markets. Through all of it, one philosophy has kept her moving forward: **“stubborn perseverance.”** Her work is bright, functional, completely unique—and a perfect example of what creative reuse can look like when imagination takes over.
